I’ve just had my spanking new Arai’s most vulnerable areas covered in an ever-so-clever VentureShield film. Essentially, it’s a clear plastic film that sticks over paintwork and prevents stone chips and scrapes. It’ll withstand 20lbs of impact pressure before sustaining damage. So all but the most high-speed pointy rocks won’t damage my fancy Rich Art-applied paint. It won’t turn yellow over time, and also does some sort of weird self-healing trick.

For a snippet less than £25, it’s a no brainer – and if you buy a kit from an Arai Five-Star dealer at the NEC show, the race service truck will fit it for free.
