Kappa TK738 Deluxe Rucksack

The new TK738 Deluxe rucksack from Italian luggage masters, Kappa, is designed for modern riders who demand multiple storage solutions, the peace of mind from full waterproofing and all-day comfort.

With eleven assorted storage pockets, the TK738 also features a specific laptop section within the main compartment. With a reinforced back to protect it from knocks, the neoprene pouch has horizontal and vertical straps to hold a computer firmly in place. Other pockets found in the Deluxe rucksack will easily accommodate all its ancillaries.

The TK738 comes with generous padding on the shoulder straps, while adjustable chest and waist straps help create a tailored and secure fit; simultaneously spreading the weight of a loaded bag. With further rider comfort in mind, the back of the bag is lined with two padded and raised vertical strips designed to channel fresh air between its centre to keep the wearer cool.

All the outer compartments feature waterproof zips with large ring-pulls for easy operation with gloved hands. At each side of the bag are two insulated and padded pockets designed to keep phones or mp3 players protected or to keep a light snack or drink cool.

Aiding visibility to other road users, the TK738 includes reflective piping on its durable construction and a removable waterproof cover to ensure the bag and its content remain fully dry. Adding further versatility is a foldaway helmet carrier that securely fastens to the rucksack in four places.

All Kappa soft luggage comes with a 12-month guarantee.

The TK738 costs £95.99.

Tested for 300 miles

Branching out from their soft luggage roots, Kappa have introduced a range of slick topboxes (though even the 42L one is called a Scooter case). Quality seems excellent and the action is secure. Price does not include fixing kit, the cost of which will vary depending on what bike you wish to fit it to.

Kappa K53 top case-Visordown

An enormous 53 litre top case that's big enough to hold two full face helmets, or a weeks worth of clothes along with anything else you can think of carrying on your trip (unless you're taking a female, in which case you'll never have enough space). Might make filtering through the rush hour traffic a little tricky, due to its width, but if you're loaded up to the gunnels then it's a lot less hassle than a backpack and far less intrusive than a tank bag. Gives a pillion something solid to rest against too. It's tough, unclips easily from the base plate and is more waterproof than a bungeed on shopping bag. What's not to like?
